“In our pursuit of progress, let us not forget the silent struggles of children like Budi, whose mental health deserves as much care and attention as their physical well-being, for in nurturing their minds, we cultivate a future of resilience and hope.”
In a small village by the river, three-year-old Budi’s life was a tale of hardship and resilience. His family, torn apart by constant fighting, left him with scars both seen and unseen. With his father gone and his mother, Sani, struggling to make ends meet as a beggar, Budi faced a world of uncertainty.
Amidst the chaos of his home, Budi’s own struggles were evident. Speech delay weighed heavy on his young shoulders, his words trapped within him. Recognizing his problems, Sani went to us for a help.
First, we help Budi gained access to healthcare. Then we took him to hospital and we were surprised with diagnosis – ADHD. We do not know what to do but follow doctor advice. However, Budi was unable to undergo therapy well because he was always crying and screaming. He even started to hurt himself.
Jacqueline came to Yogyakarta in January and her arrival was just we needed. We stop Budi’s theraphy and start our own program by based on advice from Dutch experts. Budi’s path to healing began.
With each session, Budi’s laughter grew louder, his spirit brighter. Though progress was slow and obstacles remained, the love and determination of those around him fueled his journey forward. Budi’s story is a testament to the power of resilience and love, proving that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope.
